Many years ago, Jo Grant met Professor Clifford Jones, fell in love and saved the world. It all happened in the idyllic Welsh community of Llanfairfach. Josephine Jones has come back to Llanfairfach and she finds it a bustling place with a thriving economy. The little town is now at the spearhead of a healthy-eating revolution. And yet, something’s missing. It feels like the heart has gone out of the place. She falls in with a dashing stranger and realises that although the past was a lot simpler, not everything’s changed. There’s still something nasty in the mine, and it’s been waiting for Jo for a very long time. NOTE: Torchwood contains adult material and may not be suitable for younger listeners. In this recommencement of the monthly Torchwood range, the first four adventures find the Torchwood team facing well-known monsters and villains from Doctor Who The story takes place in the same location as the very popular 1973 televised Doctor Who story, The Green Death. Two cast members from that original story feature in this new release - Katy Manning, who played the Third Doctor’s iconic companion, Jo Grant, and Stewart Bevan, who portrayed Professor Clifford Jones. CAST: John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness), Katy Manning (Josephine Jones), Stewart Bevan (Voice of the Hive). Other parts played by members of the cast. Breaking into some restricted wards, the Doctor notes the presence of alien and futuristic technology. The whole thing bears the unmistakable hallmarks of one of his own people’s interference, one of his old foes. Except not perhaps the one he might have imagined. The Monk is back. And this time his meddling may have gone too far. 4.2 The Tyrants of Logic by Marc Platt. he Doctor and Jo land on Port Anvil –a bleak, abandoned mining colony on the remote planet Burnt Salt. A huge armoured crate has recently arrived in the almost derelict Spacehub. No-one knows who it’s for. No-one knows what it contains. Strange creatures lurk around the outskirts, and a rag-tag population of misfits inhabit what is left of the town: a saloon bar owner, a literal one-man band and a hunter of very unusual prey. If they want to survive the night, they’re going to have to work together. Because the Cybermen want the contents of the crate. And they will stop at nothing to get hold of it. Director Nicholas Briggs is one of the Big Finish executive producers, and is also well known for his role on TV's Doctor Who voicing the Daleks and other monsters. Katy Manning reads this original adventure featuring the Third Doctor and Jo Grant, set in the First World War. "Somewhere in this hospital there is a man, or a woman, who has been possessed by the raw energy of time." The year is 1914, and the Great War is just getting started. In a field hospital in Ypres, Belgium, Nurse Annie Grantham receives two visitors: a distinguished doctor and his administrative assistant, Miss Grant. They have many questions to ask of Annie, and of her distressed and wounded charges. The Doctor is returning to a scenario he encountered long ago: a version of the First World War where the Archduke Ferdinand wasn't murdered, leading to changes all along the subsequent timeline. He now suspects that someone is at large in 1914, intervening in events with some unknown purpose. What force is causing injured soldiers to disappear into the night? Does the answer to the mystery lie in Sarajevo, six months earlier, at the scene of that assassination attempt? With the help of the TARDIS, the Doctor and his friends are about to find out.
